by Ike Alexander

Introduction

Ten Basic Recommend Rudiments for Percussionists Cover

I have developed a made simple, self teaching tool which has provided highly useful in teaching the drum rudiments to the visually impaired drummer/student.

The rudiments below are just a sample of my instructional CD "Ten Basic Recommended Rudiments for Percussionists". To order, please visit my website at www.cdbaby.com/ikealexander.

The Rudiments

The following rudiments are in MP3 format. The rudiment number refers to it's order on the CD. Each rudiment will be played from an open, to a closed, and back to an open position; Open, meaning slow, and closed meaning fast. Each rudiment will make a gradual progression from very slow, to very fast, and back to very slow again.

Rudiment #1: The Single Stroke

Rudiment #2: The Double Stroke

Rudiment #8: The Paradiddle

For drummers who are less visually impaired, here are the above rudiments transcribed for additional reference.
